Many of our guests who join us are vegetarians, and so it’s a common question we get as to how easy it is for vegetarians to be accommodated while traveling in a region which is, for whatever reason, seen as not vegetarian-friendly.
So in response to anyone who is hesitant about traveling to Manipur as a vegetarian, we have two word response: “Don’t be!”
The entire northeast region has a wide of vegetables the aren’t available in other parts of the country. Especially greens which are stir fried. Fiddlehead ferns and lai saag when in season are used as a side dish or even added to a curry. Some other notable vegetarian dishes in Manipur include Chamthong, a a simple yet delicious vegetable stew, Alu Kangmet, mashed potato is made with salt, mustard oil and lots of chillies and Singju, a delicious salad made with singju leaves, cabbage, onion, tomato, lotus stem, raw papaya and banana flower. All these vegetables are diced and then mixed with lightly toasted chickpea flour, sesame seeds, chillies, powder of perilia seeds and some herbs. Crunch, healthy and yummy.

The Northeast is one of the safest regions in India to travel. Whether you’re traveling with a group, with friends or family or even as a solo traveller you’ll find that the people of the northeast are incredible warm and welcoming.
Personally I recommend travelling with a guide from the region, so that there are no communication issues (remember many do not speak Hindi or English here especially in more remote regions) and to better understand the customs and traditions of the people, and so not to accidentally upset their sentiments.
We have organised many tours for solo female travellers and many solo women join our small group immersive journeys.

Mobile network connectivity in the Northeast has drastically improved over the recent years in all but the most remote areas, where it can still be an issue. We do recommend carrying a dongle.
We usually tend run between 4 – 8 small group tours annually which are special interest tours such as festivals, food, textiles, birding, family tours. You can sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Instagram or Facebook for updates.
This is a difficult question to answer but one we are asked often.
This depends on your interests but if it is for a more general mix activity trip a minimum week is recommended.
Yes we can
Because of road conditions and distances we usually use SUVs for all guest transfers – usually an Innova Krysta
We believe that we offer a a degree of local knowledge, an attention to detail, on the ground local contacts and a passion for the Northeast that surpasses your average travel agent. Julie has spent her life traveling the Northeast, fostering deep connections and relationships with local artists, weavers, chefs, naturalists and guides, etc. We are committed to proving community led tourism, and sustainable tourism is fundamental to our ethos. We don’t believe in selling anything unless Julie has personally and thoroughly experienced it herself.
Julie has been traveling through the Northeast with her children since they were very young, so we believe for the right family the region is absolutely suitable for family travel. Having said that we definitely recommend you consult a local expert before deciding where and when in the Northeast to travel.
Yes we are always on call during your tour
Yes there is fee involved and it varies based on what services are to be rendered. This will be readjusted against the cost of your holiday when you book.
Limited daylight hours in the Northeast, especially in the winter months means early starts are necessary. Sunrise in the winter is between 4:45-5:15am and the sun sets by 3.30 – 3.45pm.
This limits time outdoors especially for wildlife sightings to very early mornings or late afternoons.
Another reason is driving between destinations require early start as most are in hilly areas and later in the day the mist and fog can set in, making visibility an issue.
For safety reasons we also discourage our drivers from driving after sunset on the hilly highways.
